In the Works: Tinkeru’s First MVP

Building Skills and Confidence, One Challenge at a Time

Hey Tinkerers! 🚗✨ Off the back of the last newsletter, we have identified our first MVP test, and it’s time to give you a sneak peek.

It’s not ready - yet. But, we’re excited about what is coming and wanted to give y’all an inside peak!

Introducing our MVP (aka. Tinkeru V1)

Tinkering on a startup is much like tinkering on a car…

From the survey results, we’ve identified a number of pain points. (see here), and are aiming to quickly build something that addresses one or more of these.

The core pain point we are looking to address in this build is:

Access to reliable information, lack of knowledge and complexity of repairs

To address this, we will provide reliable, easy-to-access information that is simple to understand, helping users overcome their lack of knowledge about car maintenance. Additionally, given the complexity of some repairs, we will create a way for users to level up their skills, building the confidence needed to tackle more challenging car issues.

We are aiming to provide access to high quality, detailed and easy to understand car maintenance educational content as part of V1 MVP.

What we are building? (this is the bit you wanna know!)

We’re creating an interactive car maintenance platform that makes learning about car care a more approachable and engaging experience.

Users will have the freedom to choose where to start based on their individual needs, whether it’s mastering the basics or exploring more advanced repair techniques.

The platform will offer step-by-step tutorials, quizzes to reinforce learning and ensure understanding, and a dashboard to track your progress as you build your car care skills.

Our goal is to make car maintenance simple, accessible, and maybe even enjoyable, no matter your starting point.

Yeah, but WHAT else?!

Ok, chill. It’s going to be an 'ugly baby' - imperfect and in need of protection through constructive feedback. It will require nurturing and iteration to develop into something truly valuable and reach its long-term potential.

It’s not going to be a polished, final product ready for mass adoption. It’s not a finished solution, nor is it a prototype that’s expected to be perfect from day one. Instead, it’s a starting point - a proof of concept that we will grow and improve over time.

We invite you to join us on this journey. Try it out, explore its possibilities, and help us shape it with your feedback. Together, we can attempt to nurture this 'ugly baby' into something truly great.

  • Thanks to my team for working through some ambiguous concepts and workshops with me. I have LOVED the collaboration and the hive mind approach to problems. Things are feeling great and I feel we are all on the same page and PUMPED to build this first MVP. Let’s GO!

  • Thanks to Jay Davey from Rampey for some wonderful founder chats the last couple of weeks! Keep an eye on Rampey, they are doing cool things.

  • Thanks to Shashin Patel for a cheeky Sunday morning message on LinkedIn sharing a insightful article on the state of DIY garages. Definitely a concept that is sitting in the back of my mind of a place that Tinkeru could play in.

  • Thanks to YCombinator for their DOPE content, in particular their YouTube content. I’m watching videos from 9+ years ago that contain nuggets of gold that are helping me set expectations on myself, and Tinkeru.
